A Hillwalkers’ Guide

This Guide is a companion to the book, The Escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie, which describes the adventures of the fugitive prince over five months after his defeat in the battle at Culloden. The Guide is intended for use by present-day walkers to ‘follow in Charles’ footsteps’ round the Western Isles and North-West Highlands of Scotland.

Charles’ routes are described in twenty-six chapters. Each chapter may be viewed on screen by clicking its name in the list on the next page. Each chapter can be downloaded to a computer as a PDF document to be saved or printed. Each chapter covers Charles’ routes, as described in the corresponding chapter in the companion book. All routes are presented as a sequence of walks, each requiring half a day to a day.
